    Meet Our Nurses

We are very proud of our amazing Team of 6 Veterinary Nurses at Gawler South.

All our nurses are fully-qualified, and are very dedicated to their work, have superb medical and surgical nursing skills and show great compassion when dealing with the animals and their owners. They always maintain a wonderfully happy and positive attitude, all have a wicked sense of humour and are always very supportive of each other.

The Nurses are truly the ‘lifeblood of Gawler South’ and we love you all to bits!!

Natalie Hidden (Nat) – Fully Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Dare we call you our Senior Veterinary Nurse, Nat, but a long association (over 20 years – 14 years at Gawler South) qualifies you for that honour! Nat is very happily married to Paul and has one teenage son, Ryan. Animal family members include Betsy, a very special fluffy pooch, and 2 horses ‘Jasper’ and ‘Visi’. In her spare time, Nat enjoys eventing on ‘Visi’ (very successfully), hunting with Salisbury Hunt Club, skiing on the River Murray and socializing.

What Nat enjoys most about working at Gawler South:
Nat enjoys seeing the regular clients and says ‘it feels like home’.

Best advice she would give a pet owner:
‘Socialize your puppy’

Charne Britton (Charnie) – Fully Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Charne was educated at Trinity College, Gawler and has been working at Gawler South for 10 years – she is still in her first job!! The Britton family have quite a menagerie at Hamley bridge – Foxy & Wesley – 2 very spoilt Burmese cats, James – the Cavalier, Maynard – the Alaskan Malamute, Nuggs – the Kelpie, Jay Jay - the kangaroo, and an old stockhorse, ‘Flick’. Feline Medicine & Care and Canine reproduction. (And apparently ‘Happy Hour’ - Bundy & coke - on Thursday nights after Puppy parties!!!).

What Charne likes best about working at Gawler South:
Charne loves the great clientele and knows so many so very well. She feels that the staff is like an extended family and she can boast lots of ‘sisters’ and an extra set of parents!!??.

Best advice she would give a pet owner:
‘You cannot socialize your pets too much! Have fun with your furry friends’.

Jane Zielinski (Janey) Fully Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Janey could be a classified as one of our 2 star recruits (the other – Rachie) who joined us just over 2 years ago when Gawler South was in a stage of re-development. She left her studies at Xavier College, in Year 12, to start working as a Veterinary Nurse and hasn’t looked back since. Her breeding partly explains her excellent nursing skills – her mother, Bernadette, is also a veterinary nurse and also worked for us in another life. Janey has recently become engaged to Mark (a client who was swept off his feet by one of the gorgeous Gawler South chicks!!) and lives with Gia – a 2 year old German Shepherd, Pepper – her fat old cat described as ‘my little shadow’ and Stewart Little – her newly acquired Standard Bred horse. In her spare time, Janey enjoys horse-riding, listened to music and dancing with the GSSAH girls.

Janey’s Special Veterinary Interests include:
‘Annoying the Vets!!!!’ Not funny JANE……..

What Janey likes best about working at Gawler South:
‘It is within walking distance to MacDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and the Noodle Box’.
(The author now revokes all the nice things said about Jane in the previous paragraphs.)

Best advice she would give a pet owner:
‘Stressed people create stressed pets!!’

Rachel Rebbeck (Rachie) Fully Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Rachie joined us nearly 2 years ago after a Trinity College education and working in sports retail. Her natural warmth and empathy has made her another invaluable member of the Team and she really enjoyed the formal side of her Veterinary Nurse education. Rachel lives with her family and partner Ben and Squeaka – a ginger & white domestic, Holly – a domestic tabby and Harry – a Rottweiler. In her spare time Rachie enjoys volleyball, shopping, socializing and organizing the building of her new house (and oops – nearly forgot – changing the colour of her hair!!)

Rachie’s Special Veterinary Interests Include:
Pet Nutrition and runs Gawler South Slimmers – our weight watching programme for pets. Practice marketing and promotion.

Erin returned to Gawler South last year after some interesting work with the RSPCA and her marriage to Matthew. Erin works for us on a casual basis and she is extremely busy with her very successful mobile dog and cat grooming business, "Wags 2 Whiskers". It is wonderful to have Erin as part of the team again as she brings with her such a depth of veterinary knowledge, excellent practical nursing skills and a great amount of enthusiasm and vibrancy.

Erin comes from a very big family (5 brothers and 4 sisters plus Mum and Dad) and is married to a very loving Matthew. At home she and Mat live with a Golden Retriever called Boof, a Boarder Collie called Oscar and 2 pussies called Jackson and Pippo. In her spare time Erin enjoys gardening, bushwalking and shopping (of course).
